Polyethylene antistatic (abbreviation: PE ast) or polyethylene electrically conductive (abbreviation: PE el): As a rule, a special carbon black in antistatic PE or electrically conductive PE ensures water retention and thus a significant reduction in the otherwise high surface and contact resistance. This means that semi-finished products in the form of sheets or round rods, as well as finished parts made of plastics that are normally ideal insulators, can be used in sensitive areas where an electrical charge has a hazardous effect. Examples include mining (spontaneous ignition of existing gases), charge carriers in the manufacture of electrical equipment, and many others.
Electrically conductive without large masses
Antistatic PE (surface resistance <10^11 ohms) and electrically conductive PE (surface resistance <10^6 ohms) allow plastic to be used in an area dominated by metal with heavy weights. In addition to the significant weight savings, there is ease of machining, no risk of corrosion, and good prices.
Many materials with great possibilities
Standard color PE ast & PE el semi-finished products is black, but special colors are to be considered from corresponding minimum quantities of approx. 3,000 kg. In this case, the electrical resistance of the material would be lowered by means of a chemical antistatic agent. We offer sheets as well as round bars (not in all materials).
